Yes. Prop money is legal to own and use for film, television, music video, theatrical, educational, and creator content production when it is clearly distinguishable from genuine United States currency. Prop Money Inc. bills follow industry standards used by professional productions worldwide and are designed strictly for on-camera use, never as legal tender.

Do movies use fake money?

Major film, television, and streaming productions overwhelmingly use prop money rather than genuine cash on set. Prop money lets productions show large quantities, perform stunts, drop and tear bills, and shoot retakes safely. Real cash on set is rare, slow, and creates security and insurance risk.

What is prop money used for?

Prop money is used on-camera in feature films, TV series, streaming productions, music videos, commercials, concert tours, theatrical productions, online videos, magic and illusion acts, educational content, training and simulation, and brand campaigns where realistic visual cash is required without using legal tender.

Can YouTubers use prop money?

Yes. YouTube creators, TikTok creators, and content producers use prop money to make giveaway, challenge, lifestyle, and music content visually compelling. Bills should be clearly marked as prop money and never represented as legal tender or used to deceive a viewer or third party.

What is custom prop money?

Custom prop money is purpose-built bills produced for a specific production, music video drop, artist brand, or creator campaign. Custom designs can feature unique portraits, color treatments, denominations, branding, security elements, and serial numbering — all designed for camera-ready use without resembling genuine legal tender.
