Scenario and evidence-room practice
Prop Money for Law Enforcement Evidence Training
Plan fictional cash exhibits for evidence identification, packaging, counting, documentation and handoff exercises. Build each set around the scenario objective and chain-of-custody workflow, with training inventory kept clearly separate from authentic evidence.
Plan an evidence exercise →Chain of custody
Train every handoff, not only the final count.
Identify
Assign the item number, location and condition before the training cash is moved.
Document
Photograph the starting state and record the package, count method and responsible trainee.
Transfer
Use a clear sender, receiver, date, time and purpose for every practice handoff.
Reconcile
Confirm the final training inventory against the instructor’s control list.
Scenario design
Make the evidence tell one coherent story.
Use only the cash layouts required by the learning objective. A clean cataloged seizure, mixed recovered cash and a sealed transfer packet each test different observation and documentation skills.
Location and condition
Record where the item appears and how it is arranged.
Collection action
Document who handled the item and what changed.
Inventory result
Record method, denominations and total training quantity.
Package and seal
Confirm label, transfer record and final destination.
Training roles
Give every participant a defined responsibility.
Scenario controller
Sets the starting inventory, introduces authorized changes and holds the master count.
Evidence team
Identifies, photographs, counts, packages and documents the training exhibit.
Evaluator
Observes the workflow, records deviations and confirms the final reconciliation.
Inventory controls
Keep the exercise repeatable.
Number every set
Use a scenario ID and item list that connect each bundle to the instructor control sheet.
Separate master and active sets
Protect the reference inventory from handling during the student exercise.
Use replacement packets
Prepare labeled backups so one damaged item does not halt the training schedule.
Close with a full count
Reconcile all active, packaged, loose and reserve training bills before resetting.

Evidence training FAQ
Planning questions
Should every scenario use the same quantity?
No. Use the minimum inventory needed to test the objective, then keep the instructor control count exact for that scenario.
How should multiple teams be managed?
Assign each team a separate scenario ID, active set, packaging materials and evaluator record. Never combine sets during reset.
Should the training bills look clean or handled?
Match the condition to the exercise. Clean sets simplify introductory counting, while controlled wear can support observation and documentation scenarios.
